From Your Photos to Your Portrait

Every Portrait Together portrait is created with AI image technology, from the photos you upload. No one paints or draws it by hand. Here's what happens, step by step.

1. You upload separate photos. One photo for each person and each pet. Before a photo leaves your phone, your browser shrinks it and removes hidden data like GPS location.
2. An automatic check looks at each photo. It confirms there's one clear face (or one clear pet), that the photo isn't too blurry or too small, and that the person looks like an adult. It also screens for content we can't accept. If a photo won't work, you'll see why right away.
3. An AI image model makes your portrait. Your photos and the look you chose are sent to the image model, along with written instructions for that look: keep each person's age, skin tone, hair and glasses; keep each pet's breed, size, coat and markings; no text, no extra people.
4. Each result is screened again before you see it.
5. You see a watermarked preview. The full-quality original is stored privately and is never sent to your device until you pay.
6. After you pay, you get the original. A separate step enlarges it into a 8×10 print file at 300 DPI.

Every portrait is new. It isn't copied from another order or pulled from a library of stock images.

The Image Models We Use

Your portraits are made with GPT Image 2.5 Sunburst by OpenAI. If the main model is busy or a portrait fails, we automatically switch to GPT Image 2 by OpenAI, and as a last resort to Nano Banana 2.1 by Google. Print files are enlarged with SeedVR by ByteDance Seed. All of these run on fal.ai.

Your photos are checked by GPT-6 Luna by OpenAI (through OpenRouter) and by the fal.ai image safety check.

We chose these models after testing them side by side on the same photos of people and pets, looking for one thing above all: does it still look like them? We'll update this page if we change models.

What Happens to Your Photos

• Your photos are used only to make your portraits.
• Location data is removed before upload.
• Original uploads are deleted automatically 30 days after your order is completed, or after 30 days if you don't buy.
• Previews you don't buy are deleted after 30 days.
• Portraits you buy stay on your private order page, so you can download them again.
• We don't create face templates or compare faces against any database.
• Nothing you upload appears in a public gallery.

You can ask us to delete your photos and portraits sooner by emailing support@portraittogether.com. The privacy policy lists every company that handles your photos.

Adults and Pets Only

Portrait Together only accepts photos of adults and pets. Before you upload, you confirm that you have the right to use the photos, that everyone pictured agreed, and that no one pictured is under 18. Photos that appear to show a child are blocked by an automatic check.

Likeness, Redos and Our Guarantee

AI image models are good, but not perfect. Sometimes a portrait misses. That's why you see your portraits before you pay, and you can try a new set 1 time for free.

After you buy, each portrait gets 2 free redos. You can add a short note, like "she has a white patch on her chest." Every version is saved, and you choose which one is final.

If a portrait is still obviously wrong after your redos, ask for a full refund within 14 days. That covers a portrait that doesn't look like you or your pet, someone missing, broken faces or limbs, a damaged file or wrong framing, and a double charge. See the refund policy.

Every File Says How It Was Made

Every file you download carries embedded metadata (the IPTC standard) describing how it was made: created with AI image technology, by Portrait Together. This follows emerging rules like the EU AI Act, and it means anyone who checks the file can see how it was made. The metadata doesn't include your name, email or location.
